Wet Document Drying |
|||||
Water damage to paper occurs while the paper is wet. The paper fibres become flexible and fuse together. Once the paper has dried it is then impossible to separate pages without losing most of the content.
Steamatic's Wet Document Restoration ProcessSteamatic uses a vacuum freeze-drying technology - the best process available to ensure the preservation and physical integrity of papers and books. This process enables frozen paper media to dry slowly with constant monitoring of moisture levels which is most important to successfully recover documents and books. Solid-state water (ice) within the articles is subjected to a heat source and the solid water attempts to thaw, and the moisture becomes vapour. Once in this gaseous state we are able to extract it from the chamber. The result: the articles release all their water content but the articles never get wet during the process. Applying the correct recovery method is necessary to achieving the best result. Each situation is different and at Steamatic we provide a range of services including freeze-drying and deodorisation. Where documents cannot or are unable to be saved we offer reproduction services to ensure original papers are not lost. |
